Great news!!! Actually from yesterday but I didn't have time to report it.
One of the major hurdles in international adoption is getting approval through the Department of Homeland Security. We sent in the I-600A form a couple of weeks ago and just got a letter saying that we can get our fingerprints done. That means they have begun processing the form. May seem like small potatoes but it was big news to us. We can now be certain that it wasn't lost in the shuffle.
There's more though. The fingerprinting letter says that we are to report to the fingerprinting location in a couple weeks. We have heard that some families show up before their scheduled time, ask really nicely, and hope to get the prints done earlier. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We are going to try.
As soon as we are able, we're going to show up at the USCIS (US Customs and Immigration Service) office with four kids and hope they take pity on us. Please be praying that we find success. If the fingerprints are done sooner, the I-600A can be approved sooner, our dossier can be sent to Ghana sooner, and we can go see Kwabena (Hugo) sooner.
how exciting.... I am in awe of how the Lord is taking care of every detail step by step. This blog will be a great diary for Hugo to read when he is older!

PS Rich is good at fingerprinting; just saying.
My friends who are adopting from Uganda went 2 weeks prior to their appointment. We were praying for them...that they'd have favor and be allowed to get their fingerprints done that day. They were in and out in 10 minutes. I'll pray the same for you guys :)

I'm so excited for your whole family! Hugo will have wonderful parents! Praying you get to do the fingerprinting early! Bringing the four kids may very well work for pity :)

ReplyDeletegreat news! Hannah and I are familiar with the office in Pittsburgh when we needed her visa done. From our experience it was pretty easy and no fuss at all. We pray that you will have favor and be able to submit your prints when you go.
