Invisible Children

As we were deciding whether adoption was right for us, Rebekah came across a blog post called The invisible Children. The blog is My Life As An Adventure written by our good friend Barb Croce. Barb is a resident of Indiana and is a personal trainer that owns Barbs Fit U.

You can find her post here. Just a word of warning....the post is not graphic but it is straightforward and honest about the plight of many children throughout the world. But it is also hopeful.

Clearly, the Lord was helping Barb in much the same way that He was preparing us. Barb had no idea that we were considering adoption, but when we read her post, we realized we needed to get together and talk. She and her husband, Rich, came to our house and we told them what we were considering. We told them all the things we were afraid of in adoption. What if he doesn't love us? What if taking care of five children is too hard? What if we can't afford it? What if, what if, what if?

Then Barb spoke words that silenced all those what ifs. She said, "Wow, none of those are good reasons to say no."

Just like that. She was so right. We realized that we had so much to give and this little boy had nothing. There was no reason to withhold our love from him. So we didn't. And it was so easy to fall in love with him after that barrier was removed.

Thanks Barb. I invite you all to read Barb's post and to follow her blog as well. She is a wise woman and we are blessed to know her.
